During the 20-lap Late Model feature at Lancaster, N.Y. Speedway, Terry Goerss catches a wheel and goes out of the ballpark -- into the flagstand. Starter Bruce Fleishman is knocked out of the stand, but his ankle is caught in the framework, and he hangs over the track, dangling while race cars zoom beneath him. Asst. Starter Hal Lawrence grabs him, hauls him back in and throws the red lights. The starter was transported to the hospital and his only injury was a sprained ankle. |
