Eddie Tysko in his #28 Pleasure Division car hit the 2nd turn wall at Plainville Stadium in 1978 with these results. Eddie was lucky to get out of the car. That is Beatle Farone with the Fire Extinguisher, which was like throwing S**t against a high tide. Beatle was on the track crew at the time, but, in 1976 he won 7 Street Stock features at Stafford Speedway to become the 1st Champion of the Division that would later emerge as today's Late Model Division. The photos where taken by long time track photographer Phil Hoyt, with one of the photos finding its way onto the cover of a 1978 Stock Car Racing Magazine. Phil was also a racing journalist writing stories for the Cavalcade of Auto Racing and Speedway Scene. I Believe this incident prompted the Stadium to mandate Fuel Cells for all divisions for the 1979 season as fuel cells where optional in all divisions, including the Modifieds, before 1979 at Plainville Stadium. I don't know if Eddie ever drove again, but, the car never saw another race. |
